IFrame Hacking – JavaScript Hacking

October 9, 2008 · Filed Under Site and Server Security · Comments

Now a days, it is not an easy job to develop and secure web site. Each and every day, you will find a new way to attack on the web site, servers or even entire network. Today I will discuss about two types of web site hacking which are most common.

[1] IFrame Hacking
[2] JavaScript Hacking

In both, the hackers add suspicious IFrame or JavaScript code in your web site page. Such code generally links to the malware or badware site.

There are many reasons for such type of hacking.

- Your control panel or FTP password is compromised. If you system is infected with Virus/Trojan/Spyware then there a chance that hacker gets some confidential information from your system and may damage your system. It is a best practice to have Anti Virus installed on the system and also it should be upgraded to its latest version. To fix this security hole, you
can simply reset your password to hard one. Also never set dictionary words as your password.

- The server where your site is compromised.

- XSS (Cross Site Scripting) vulnerability in your site. If your site has XSS vulnerability then there is a high risk for such type of hacking.

- SQL injection. If your site is not designed to prevent SQL injection then hacker can easily get the access your database and insert suspicious code.

There are many other reasons then as mentioned above. You should test your web in all aspects before putting it on live.

Hi,

Many of you are confused while selecting the web hosting plan. Most of you are confused whether to select Windows hosting or Linux. In this article we will discuss the few things related to Windows hosting.

Why to chose Windows Hosting?

- If you are planing to use Microsoft technology like ASP, .Net Platform, MSSQL database in your web site then you will need to go for Windows Hosting.

- In addition to this you can also use PHP and MySQL on Windows platform. This is the added advantage of Windows hosting platform.

Do not chose Windows if you are planing as follow:

- If you have developed your site using HTML and PHP, MySQL then it is advisable to select Linux Hosting. As Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL will give you better performance.

- Also if you have used Apache Mod rewrite rules then you will need to go for Linux hosting, as you can easily write rewrite rule in Linux via .htaccess file.

- Most of the hosting provider do not support ISAPI rewrite rule or they are using lite version of ISAPI rewrite rule, so if you have to go for Linux hosting.

The above are few points that you will need to take care before you select the web hosting service.

Now a day, the most important part of your website is the data of your website which includes your web contents, databases, email accounts etc. It is recommended that you take the backup of your website regularly. However, most of the hosting providers are taking the backup daily, weekly or monthly basis but to become safer from our side, we have to take the backup at our end also. Many hosting control panels allow you to take the backup directly from the control panel. Today, I will discuss regarding how to take backup/restore your site through cPanel.

cPanel provides the features to backup and restore your site through control panel. You can take home directory backup, database backup, full backup of your website and email domain forwarder or filter backup. To download the backup, follow the below mentioned steps:

[1] Login to the cPanel of your domain.
[2] Go to ‘Backups’ menu.
[3] Click on the appripriate backup copy to download. For example, if you want to download the database backup then click on the database name which is under ‘Download a MySQL Database Backup’.

In addtion, you can also take the full backup (backup of your whole site including database, web contents, emails etc.). To generate the full backup, click on ‘Generate/Download a Full Backup’.
