cPanel Backup
Now a day, the most important part of your website is the data of your website which includes your web contents, databases, email accounts etc. It is recommended that you take the backup of your website regularly. However, most of the hosting providers are taking the backup daily, weekly or monthly basis but to become safer from our side, we have to take the backup at our end also. Many hosting control panels allow you to take the backup directly from the control panel. Today, I will discuss regarding how to take backup/restore your site through cPanel.
cPanel provides the features to backup and restore your site through control panel. You can take home directory backup, database backup, full backup of your website and email domain forwarder or filter backup. To download the backup, follow the below mentioned steps:
[1] Login to the cPanel of your domain.
[2] Go to ‘Backups’ menu.
[3] Click on the appripriate backup copy to download. For example, if you want to download the database backup then click on the database name which is under ‘Download a MySQL Database Backup’.
In addtion, you can also take the full backup (backup of your whole site including database, web contents, emails etc.). To generate the full backup, click on ‘Generate/Download a Full Backup’.

Transfer a web site from one server to another using cpanel/whm
The most important thing while transferring the server is to transfer the web sites including database, emails, email forwarders etc. If you do it manually then it takes long time to migrate the web sites. cPanel/WHM has a feature to transfer the web site from one server to another. There are many options available as follow:
[1] Copy an account from another server. [You would require root password of the old server]
[2] Copy an account from another server with account password.
[3] Copy multiple accounts/packages from another server.
Based on your requirements you can select the option to transfer the web sites.

Web hosting control panel
Once you host your web site (domain) through any web hosting provider, you will need some interface to manage your web site (domain). Without any interface, it is hard to manage your web site. The interface through which you can manage your web site (domain) is called web hosting control panel.
There are many web hosting control panels available. Some of them are HELM (only for Windows server), cPanel/WHM (For Linux server), Plesk (Windows and Linux servers), DirectAdmin (Linux) Ensim etc. Using the control panel, you can manage your web site (domain) easily from any where. It allows you to create the email accounts of your web site (domain), to set the email forwarder for your email accounts, to add the domain alias (domain parking), to modify the web pages of your web site through file manager, to create the databases for your web site (domain) etc. Many control panels allow you to modify your DNS zone of your website. Hence, you do not need to contact your hosting provider in order modify some records in the DNS zone of your domain (i.e. A record, MX record, add CNAME). In same way many control panels allow you to upload your web pages directly through control panel and you can zip or unzip the folder through control panel itself.
If you have your own dedicated server then you can manage the web sites without any web hosting control panel. However, it would be easy to setup your server using the hosting control panel as it provides the user friendly interface.
Below are the some web sites for web hosting control panel product:

You should upgrade your control panel regularly to fix the bugs in the current version of the control panel and improve the security of your server.

Awstats error
Hi,
I am receiving the below error while updating the AwStats manually (using “Update Now” link):
Error: Couldn’t open server log file “C:\Domains\domain.com\logs\W3SVC2362\ex070630.log” : No such file or directory Setup (’c:\awstats\wwwroot\cgi-bin/awstats.domain.conf’ file, web server or permissions) may be wrong. Check config file, permissions and AWStats documentation (in ‘docs’ directory).
Thanks,
